Discovering Huntington Bank
The Huntington National Bank is Huntington Bancshares Incorporated’s banking subsidiary. Huntington operates with over 1,000 branches in the Midwest and other neighboring states, such as Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, Colorado, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Kentucky, etc.
The Huntington National Bank and its affiliates have been around since 1866. They offer banking, payments, wealth management, and risk management products and services to consumers, small and middle-market businesses, corporations, municipalities, and other organizations.
Huntington offers banking and financial services as well as commercial, small business, and consumer banking. It has also expanded its services in mortgage banking, treasury management and foreign exchange, equipment leasing, and much more.
The banking institution continues to reach out to customers by providing more services in wealth and investment management, trust, brokerage, customized insurance brokerage and service programs, and automotive dealerships (in select states).
Installing the Huntington Mobile App
I have been a customer of Huntington Bank for years already. The bank continues to improve its services over time to ensure that its customers will have the best banking experience possible.
Huntington launched the Huntington Mobile app in June 2011 to make banking services available 24/7. The Huntington Mobile app is available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
Since its release in 2011, the Huntington Mobile app has been continuously updated to offer new features. Thus, the Huntington Mobile app requires AndroidOS 5.0 and up and iOS 11.0 or later to run smoothly on mobile devices.
Setting Up the Huntington Mobile App
The Huntington Mobile app welcomed me with its End User License Agreement, which I need to agree with to proceed to explore the app. The End User License Agreement explains the coverage and limitations of my access to the app’s content and protocols in using the app.
I also needed to understand how the app abides by the states’ laws in ensuring that the content and feature are well-suited to the customer’s needs and rights.
The End User License Agreement also specified what I can and cannot do with the app when using it.
In addition, I only need to grant the Huntington Mobile app permission to access different features of my mobile device to finish setting up. The Huntington Mobile app asked for my location (precise and approximate) because the app is only available in the United States.
Reading the Huntington Mobile App’s Privacy Policy
After I agreed with the End User License Agreement of the Huntington Mobile app, I checked the app’s Privacy Policy. I wanted to ensure that the app would protect my data privacy since I will be providing sensitive and personal information.
The Huntington Mobile app enumerated the personal information it collects, like name, address, email, phone number, mother’s maiden name, Social Security number, birthday, employment, driver’s license, income, residence, and collateral information.
The app assured me that it would only disclose personal information as permitted by law. It also mentioned that it would be consistent with its Privacy Policy, comply with applicable laws, respond to governmental inquiries or requests, comply with valid legal purposes, protect rights, etc.
Exploring the Huntington Mobile App
Once I finished setting up the Huntington Mobile app, I could explore the app’s welcome page. It shows the sign-in options for those who already have a Huntington online banking account using their registered username and password.
As a new user, I can create a new account by clicking the “Enroll Now” button. The app also asked new users if they wanted to open a new account on Huntington bank. With this feature, I do not need to visit a branch to start opening a new account on Huntington.
Aside from sign-in and sign-up options, there are things I could check on the welcome page. The “locations” option lets me find the nearest Huntington bank branch so that I can visit one if I need to.
There is also the bank’s contact information, so I can immediately raise my concerns and issues. The app also encourages me to leave feedback, so it can work to improve the services. I can also check Huntington and its mobile banking app on various social media platforms.
Enrolling a New Account on the Huntington Mobile App
When I started using the Huntington Mobile app, it asked me to enroll in a new account since I did not have any existing Huntington online banking account. I only needed to tap the “Enroll Now” button to create an account.
Then, the Huntington Mobile app asked what I wanted to use to sign up: my account number or debit card number. I need to provide y account number, Social Security Number, or Tax ID if I choose the first option.
Meanwhile, the app asked me to provide my debit card number and PIN if I chose the second one. After providing the information, the Huntington Mobile app verifies my identity by checking my records with the bank. Lastly, I can set and register a username and password for the app.
Utilizing the Security Features of the Huntington Mobile App
True to its promise to provide safe and secure mobile banking, the Huntington Mobile app has several security features. First, the Huntington Mobile app ensured I would be the only one to access my account by supporting the fingerprint login feature.
Once I registered my username and password, the Huntington Mobile app asked if I wanted to use my fingerprint to open my account. Aside from providing additional security, the fingerprint feature lets me log in easily.
Interestingly, the Huntington Heads Up feature also works in two ways: alerting me of fraud and suspicious activities on my accounts and keeping me on top of every transaction made with my accounts.
The Heads Up feature allows me to set up alerts by receiving push notifications, text messages, or emails. I like that I will never have a hard time keeping track of the important moments and seeing where my money goes.
Checking My Account Information on the Huntington Mobile App
One of the primary features of the Huntington Mobile app is that it allows me to check my account information. It is possible to view up-to-date information about all my Huntington accounts.
The Huntington Mobile app supports accessing all my Huntington accounts by simplifying choosing which account I want to see.
The app also lets me see all the pending transactions. Lastly, Huntington Mobile records all my transaction history for all accounts.
Transferring Money Using the Huntington Mobile App
I liked that the Huntington Mobile app supports transferring money between my Huntington accounts. I do not need to visit a Huntington branch to be able to do so.
This feature is highly convenient for my credit account, so I can quickly transfer money to pay for my balances and clear my monthly statement. There is also an option for me to select the date I would like the transfer to occur.
It means I can schedule a transfer that works best for my credit card accounts. Once the transactions have been made, there will be a receipt for my records.
Paying Bills via Huntington Mobile
Aside from transferring money between my Huntington accounts, I can also transfer money to other people. The main purpose of the money transfer to another individual is to pay bills. This feature saves me time from running errands and visiting payment centers for all my bills.
The Huntington Mobile app supports paying a person or a company. Then, I will receive a summary that describes the amount and payment date. The Huntington Mobile app also sends the corresponding transaction receipts.
It is also possible to save all the payees’ information so that I do not have to constantly enter the information every time I need to pay.
Managing My Huntington Debit Card on the App
The Huntington Mobile app wanted to provide further convenience to its users by allowing us to manage our debit cards. I like the many options and features I can use with my debit card by using the Huntington Mobile app.
I can activate and deactivate my debit card anytime on the Huntington Mobile app. This feature is helpful whenever my card is lost or stolen, and I can freeze my account so that other people cannot tracts using my account.
Moreover, the Huntington Mobile app lets me change my card’s PIN. This feature encourages me to protect my account by constantly changing my PIN for safety purposes.
Updating My Contact Information on the App
Another convenient feature of the Huntington Mobile app is that I can update my contact information. It is a given that I have to update the bank if there are changes with my contact information, like address and phone number.
Again, there is no need to visit a Huntington branch because I can do it on the Huntington Mobile app. If I change my personal information on the app, my records on the bank will also be updated.
Conclusion
The Huntington Mobile app allows users to have a convenient mobile banking experience by offering features like account management, online money transfer, and bill payment.
